I woke up this morning still feeling quiet tired but as soon as I was on the road I woke up and had great energy for the whole day. During all of my preparation people were all ways telling me about the mountain at Bulahdelah was going to be really tough, so much so that I was even worried that I wouldn’t be able to ride over it because my knees still hurt and because I was already tired and I had not even left yet. As I road along I started going up a gradual incline that ran for about 2-3 km it wasn’t until I stopped at a rest stop to ask someone where Bulahdelah Mountain was that I found out this gradual incline was the hill I had been worrying over for the past couple of weeks. What a relief.
The rest of the ride was mainly flat aside from two other gradual inclines so I was in high spirits. I think because I anticipated this ride to be so much harder than it really was that I had all of this spare energy to burn and felt great for the rest of the ride. Almost the exact opposite from yesterday when I was falling asleep on the bike. I ended up singing at the top of my lungs for the last hour because I was just so excited that this section was finished.
I ended up riding 90 km today in just over 4.5 hours. My average was 20.4 km/hr so I must be feeling better. My knee is still sore but nothing compared to the pain of the first few days so hopefully it is on the mend. Well it’s off to bed for me as I have 110 km to ride to get to Kempsey tomorrow. Till then…
